Blogmas Day 5

We spent Friday breaking down my office and moving it into the bonus room. This led to the discovery of an outlet that didn't have power that previous did have, yadda yadda things snowball. So here's a belated post and then another to come.

While I share some space with the dogs, we're going to paint and floor my office. But I really want to highlight someone else's writing today.

McMansion Hell is a top notch architecture and style criticism blog run by the furiously talented Kate Wagner and they alternately feature discussions on trends in bad house décor and design and lessons in proper and logical architectural applications. 

Since Blogmas is focusing on a lot of the color and design choices we're considering, I thought their most recent post, on the whiting/greying of the American home and how these decisions are often made based on exterior assumptions over interior demands, fit perfectly. Please enjoy.

  Congratulations on surviving Easter and International Trans day of Visibility falling on the same day! I hope you all fought off what was apparently the 300+ attempt by Joe Biden to turn us all Woke Gay and Cancelled. Truly this will be a sane election year that certainly won't end with a bunch of angry white men, bloated to Michelin Man proportions through hangover sunburns and military vests, with thoughts of manifest destiny via Chik-fil-A and genocide, taking rifle shots at minorities, because their ineffectual, doddering would-be despot, existing solely to absorb conservative self-loathing and billable lawyers hours like some loosely shaped sentient cow pie hate sigil, managed to choke out world salad glossolalia during a non-concession speech.  But enough about the thoughts that come when sitting quietly, without a screen to distract me. And so we return and begin again. We close out our third year of this blog and this renovation with some major aesthetic and architectural transformations. We've gone through a few cycles of the moon in three years and this blog entry falls during a full moon phase, making this a time of high emotions, a time for celebration, and a time that grants the energy for change. As Jim Valvano said in his speech at the 1993 ESPY's when addressing the key things in life, you need to know "where you started, where you are, and where you’re going to be."
